Malicious Advertising. Turn off allow third party apps now.

Jun 8, 2017 9:21AM PDT

Read how malicious advertising is about to hit a lot of Android phones at http://www.tomsguide.com/us/malvertising-lock-android-phones,news-25255.html

To stop this disaster happening, you only have to check and change one setting. It's in the Settings app. On my phone (LG G4) it's in Settings->Security->Allow Third Party apps. To block this threat I have it turned off or disabled.

"Uninstalling the app is impossible, since "update" controls the device at an administrative level. Any attempt to get rid of it forces the phone into a lock screen, and at the time of writing, there's no way around it. Your only recourse is to perform a factory reset on the phone. Depending on how much data you have saved on your device, this could range from inconvenient to disastrous."

No one wants to see their phone locked like this. Yes, you can factory reset to get rid of it. I'll update if I find another solution.

third party, but it was off.
The reason I'm here is to learn about an app called Joy Launcher. It installed itself last night, and can't be force-stopped, disabled or uninstalled. It has other malicious characteristics as well.
I've been having trouble in other areas also, and am prepared to go to full reset. Cricket and I are convinced these others are a Google problem, but Google doesn't cover Alcatel; 'Go to mfr.'.
I have Malwarebytes and Avast installed, and they have worked well up to now.
This brings me to my next question. Is there a CNET forum for Alcatel? Not on brand forums, and I couldn't find one in my searching. Point me there, and I'll get off your back. Happy

It's gone now.

I had to wipe the phone for another problem, and that took care of it.
My malware stuff didn't stop it because it's a 'legitimate' app, albeit one of the sleaziest I've encountered.
Base on what I found, it's a Google app, or through them.
