i have a samsung pn58b860 tv and i want to use my dell inspiron 1501 laptop with it. is there a specific vga t vga cable i should use?

The PC input is an "always on" connection. As long as you send a signal that is approved (listed in the manual), you should be able to use a generic monitor cable.
