Making videos with iSight...

Jun 6, 2008 4:29PM PDT

I have taken still pictures with iSight and Photo Booth 2 but now want to record short videos to upload to You Tube and I want to know is there a program that came with my iMac that I can use to do this or, if not, is there a free program that I can use to record short videos with sound using the built in iSight camera in my iMac?

iMac 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 with built in iSight

Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Safari 3.1.1 (4525.1Cool

1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM of memory

There certainly is,

it's called iMovie, it came with your Mac and is part of the iLife suite.

iLife consists of iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie & iDVD

I'm surprised you have not found iMovie yet.

Give it a whirl

Yes, I found out that you can use iMovie to make video recordings using iSight and I also found videos on You Tube on how to properly upload them to You Tube so that they look and sound good. I have never used iMovie before since I do not make videos but might start now.

it is really quite easy and iMovie has an "Upload to YouTube" button.

Question?
Jun 8, 2008 2:52AM PDT

The upload to You Tube button in iMovie, is that in iMovie '08 only? I just started to look in iMovie and have not seen it yet. The iMovie that I have is iMovie HD version 6.03 (267.2) that came with my iMac that I bought in November 2005.

YouTube uploading

is part of iMovie '08. I do not think it is part of iMovie HD, but you could export a video from HD into the Media Browser, and from there, manually upload it yourself.
