Making the SWITCH

Feb 14, 2006 7:24AM PST

Right, I want a MacBookPro so I'll order one soonish.

But tell me, can I trade all my windows software for mac versions.

Like I have adobe cs2 premium for windows and I can't spend more cash for a mac version.

I also have Adobe Premiere, after effects and Audition.

So can I just mail the software back to Adobe and have them mail me the software for the mac???

crossgrades
Feb 14, 2006 8:08AM PST

I can't imagine it will be that simple. Itt will likely be at least an upgrade or crossgrade price. But you never know... perhaps they will have some exchange program in place and just charge you the price of the materials.

A shame more people don't ship both versions of the software on the same CD or DVD like some companies do (Blizzard, for example with World of Warcraft).

whats holding me back
Feb 14, 2006 8:13AM PST

thats a problem, if i can just trade all my keys and disks for mac ones, thne i would be in my local apple store (some 380 miles away) and handing over my life savings for a MacBookPro.

Untill then, I guess I'll just have to get a Mac Mini to play with.

I called adobe - your answer is...

It is called a cross platform upgrade and they will do it for FREE provided you have the current version and you send them a "Letter of software destruction." That means, you write a letter and say "I destroyed my PC version of my Adobe software." You also have to pay shipping.

If it is not current, you simply pay the upgrade price and send the letter of software destruction and the shipping cost.

Welcome

My pleasure.

If this is your primary computer, you may want to go with the top of the line but if it isn't, save yourself $500 and go with the 1.83 GHz instead. The latter still has 512 Meg of RAM, 80 GB hard drive and a great graphics card.

But if it will be your primary, it would be nice to have the extra speed )slight) the gig of RAM and the Radeon with a full 256 MB of DDR memory (instead of 12Cool.

The 1.83 will run cooler, give you more battery life and save you money. Definitely consider what you will be using it for and make your decision based on that.
