Question

making my Coby Kyros compatible with certain apps

Mar 23, 2013 5:42AM PDT

I was wondering if it is possible to make my coby kyros compatible with a game I play on another device. My device came with the SlideMe marketplace, however I have changed to google play but it tells me my device is not compatible with this app. My device is a Coby Kyros mid7046 and it uses the android version 4.0.3 Kernel version 3.0.8 using Ice Cream Sandwich.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hobbit kingdoms of middle earth for example

What details are missing that you would need to answer properly?

That was enough. There is only one proer answer.

Get a tablet that runs it. Otherwise we look at the web such as:
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=Hobbit+kingdoms+of+middle+earth

OUCH! "If you want get this great working The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth Hack"

Hack? What good is that? It's a hack and nothing more. That is, you are very much on your own here. Some folk get very upset about such things and it's a 50/50 chance you will be too.

What support are you getting so far from Koby on this?

no support from coby

Not sure what you mean, I just think it should be compatible if it runs ice cream sandwich, it took me a lot of doing but I got it to run google play, was hoping maybe i could get it to do the same with some of my other apps, the hobbit being one of them.

Sorry I meant proper.

You are off on one of the many cheap tablets and once in a while folk demand support where there is none. I offered a search that shows some hope but as it's unsupportable (a hack) then no one can support it. Even I won't try it because it's a hack.

Why not try it?

the link you offered
Mar 23, 2013 6:47AM PDT

the search you offered is a virus at least the first choice in the search is. besides that's not even what I was looking for, I want to be able to play the app on my cheap tablet, not some hack for unlimited mithril for the game

I used WOT to filter so maybe you need it too.
Mar 23, 2013 8:20AM PDT

WOT or WEB OF TRUST was green on the first 10 links.

But I use Google DNS as well as ADBLOCK PLUS so my results may differ.

Back on subject. Any cure looks to be a hack job or worse you have to hit XDA forums to install an unsupported ROM.

You can win this bet that I can't help you further except for "supported" methods such as getting a tablet that is not so bad.

I know
Mar 23, 2013 8:35AM PDT

LOL trust me I know how bad the tablet is, I got it cuz it was cheap(maybe this was not the best idea) but it runs some of the latest stuff and actually is pretty efficient. Anyway what hack are you speaking of? The hack of the you tube video from the second in the search you provided? You speak of a hack but I do not see one in the search results except for the you tube video which is a virus.

- Collapse -
Are you confusing virus and malware?
Mar 23, 2013 8:44AM PDT

I don't want to waste much time on what a virus is but I've yet to see an Android virus. I've seen malware.

And no youtube hosted video has been a virus. So that's another odd thing.

Here's a link to XDA Forums and you should try finding a sub forum with Coby roms if you must hack this.

Wow

What is your first language my friend? Because you definitely don't understand english very well. I to do not like to waste time on trivial matters but you have insisted on putting words into my mouth. I did not say a you tube video was a virus, however if you like and are so confident follow your search and click the second one, it should be a you tube video, scroll down and click the link to this hack you speak. ( guess this is it, t it's the only one that came with the search you provided) You Try it.

If I root it it will make it compatible?

So if I root my tablet it will make it compatible? I will try this, any other ideas that may be helpful?

Wow back at you.

I noted that to go down those other paths is by your choice. I didn't make it clear it seems so there it is.

If you want to install some other rom, do that. But some folk get upset when others won't help them do that.

I see the forum bottomed out. Here's a XDA Link.

Even if he roots it...
Mar 24, 2013 1:15AM PDT

...there are still apps that will not run on this tablet, regardless of whether or not Google Play will run on it too <throwing up my hands while looking at the Coby on the corner of the table>.

XDA is likely the best place to inquire though IME.

Good to see you write this. I call these "Training tablets.
Mar 24, 2013 1:27AM PDT

It's a tablet for those to figure out what a tablet is. Complete with issues and limitations but with a Walmart price.

Cheap, disposable thing that you figure out what to get next. And if they root and fail, not a big loss.

I wish folks who buy these tablets would...

Coby Tablet.
Mar 24, 2013 3:45AM PDT

I'm not sure which Coby you have, but this may heip clarify. http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/coby-kyros/4505-3126_7-34480086.html

Pepe7 was right in as such not all apps will run on certain tablets. I have a CnM tablet running
ICS and certain apps in google play don't work. It's a byproduct of buying a cheap tablet.

Having said that, my tablet works fine for what Ineed. There are ways around it, but nobody here will lead you to a direct hack. use google to get around it.
Best of luck,

Dafydd.
