Making home movies

I am trying to burn mini dv video onto DVD and have run into a few issues.

I was able to burn a home video dvd and play it on my dvd player, but when I play it on my computer, it will play very briefly and get stuck. I am able to play regular dvds on my computer.

I saw something about GEEXBOX and downloaded an iso file, but my computer can't read that. What is an iso file?

Also, my factory installed dvd player keeps saying "drive not ready" since I installed my dvd burner in place of my cd burner. The cd burner was teathered to the factory installed DVD drive.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have been using Nero 6.0 to transfer files from the camera and burn disks.

For .iso files for instance this page gives you many programs that create it
