1.) Windows XP does not natively have the capability of burning DVDs, only CDs. You'll need to use DVD burning software such as Nero, Roxio, or the free option CDBurnerXP.
2.) Some computers have one optical drive, some have two, but it's rare when a bought computer has two burners. It all depends on the exact computer and what the manufacturer decided to include.
3.) Remember that a DVD-ROM drive can only read DVDs, and sometimes burn CDs, so it must be specifically labeled as a DVD burner. (Look for DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+/-R/RW, etc.)
4.) DVD burners vary, some letting you burn only DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs while others let you burn both. Again, it depends on the exact drive.
If you can fill in the make and model number of your computer we can give you more specific details and list your options.
Hope this helps,
John
