Making dvd from Tv

Sep 20, 2006 11:31AM PDT

I have just bought a tv card for my computer, i can record as a transport stream file or mpeg. the problem is that the software that came with the card cuts out the needed parts when editng out commercials instead of just cutting out the ads. This means i must join the cuts together to creat a dvd.
The software also came with sofware to convert my file to avi, divx etc
1)Should i record as a stream or as mpeg?
2)Should i cut out the commercials or convert it first into a more editing friendly format?
3) Should i convert the whole file to AVI for edting and then burn to DVD?

I don't bother. Here's why.

I just record it and since it's on DVD I can fastforward and on one player I can skip forward a minute at a time.

A little more why I don't edit them anymore.

Since the time to edit them exceeds the time I spend by hitting the fast forward or skip button I don't see the time savings. Your choice of course.

Tools I like are Sony Vegas and Virtual Dub.

Ulead.com has demos for cheaper stuff.
