Make UAC in Vista give popup warning only once

Aug 13, 2007 2:26PM PDT

Hello,
I have Vista 32bit home premium. Rather than turn UAC completely off, is there a way for it to give warning only once (i.e. the first time a program is run?)

I like the security of UAC, but it asks me every time I run the same programs - why can't it remember that the program is ok after first time?

Thanks...

If it did

I wouldn't have disabled it. Like you posted, it's a great idea but a pain giving permission over and over and over again for the same programs.

Send suggestion to Microsoft to improve UAC experience

I suggest that everyone send an email to Microsoft and suggest that they change/update UAC to behave in the above mentioned manner. i.e. Where the UAC asks for permission ONCE and remembers what programs are allowed to run.

Addendum to give further security (optional): The ONLY time UAC should give us warnings for a previously allowed program is in the event that the program has been altered, i.e. updated to new version, possible infection by virus, (anything that changes the CODE of the program).

IMO this would make UAC warnings very useful as a protection strategy without the annoyance!

Send your emails to MS!
