mailing lists

Can anyone recommend a good utility for automating mail outs to a mailing list?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to just create one message and have it sent as an individual, personalised email to everyone on a list. I would like for people to be able to join the list by emailing a particular address and for them to unsubscribe automatically and for dead email accounts to be removed automatically from the database but not those which have failed simply due to their mailbox being full.

For the moment I'm using 0E6 but am sick of all the bugs with it so am considering changing to firebox. I have an ADSL connection. I?m using XP Home Edition. I have a website under construction with email forwarding already set up.Until now I've just been sending bulk emails at about 20 BCC'd names at a time which was fine when I only had a couple of hundred names but the list has grown to nearly three thousand (all legitimately collected by the way, these are people who have hand-written their names onto a list to keep informed of an event I organise)

I'm a big fan of freeware (naturally) but I just want something that's super idiot proof, efficient, bug-free and ad-free and good value.

thanks

Since nobody replied I'll post what I found for myself in case it's any help to anyone else.

Smart Serial Mial http://www.jam-software.de looks like it'll do the job and it's only 32,95
