Mail Queues in MailScanner/SpamAssassin

Apr 21, 2005 1:26AM PDT

Hi everyone,

First time poster..... hope I'm in the right forum.
I've getting mail queues in my Spam Assassin mail relay server.

Here's the background info:

I have a Mail Scanner/SpamAssassin v2.64 relay server. This server passes on to another spam filter called Mail Essentials. Mail Essentials then relays it over to MSExchange 2000 and into the destined mailboxes. Once every week or so, we get a mail queue in Sendmail. The status of these queued messages reads "Deferred: Connection reset by mail essentials". To resolve this, I have to reboot my Mail Essentials (windows 2000) server, then the Sendmail queue starts to flow again.

I've talked to the makers of Mail Essentials and they say that Mail Essentials does not cause any type of message queueing for the SpamAssassin server. Ist it somethinng in Mail Scanner/Spam Assassin? Is it the Mail Essentials? Or is it Windows 2000 Server in which Mail Essentials sits on?

Does anyone have any answers for this? Sometimes these messages gets queued in the middle of the night and I won't notice it until the morning (when all the users are screaming at me about the emails they were expecting).

Please help! Thank you in advanced!
