Don't know. Never had problems with opening an Access table or even query in Word mail merge. Note however, that MS Query is a quite different product; I don't see why you should use that if you've got MS Access.
A work-around, maybe: export the data to Excel format, and link Word to the spreadsheet. It's easy to try.

I am using Microsoft Office 2000 Professional and am using an Access database in Word.
I set up a form letter in MSWord then select the data from "open data sorce" via MS query I have set up. Everything looks great in the table but when I merge it the letters are all jumbled.
