Mail Merge in Word 2002

Mar 5, 2006 11:01AM PST

Hello and can any one assist me with mail merge and using SeaMonkey or Mozilla? I cannot find any help on it at all, if there is any.

It will not work, so far, for me. Guidance and input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Samuel,

Can you explain the link between 'mail merge' on one side and 'Seamonkey and Mozilla' on the other side. To me, this seem quite unrelated questions at the moment.
For questions on browsers, please visit the Browser forum.

And please tell more on your problems with mail merge. Where are the data you want to merge? What do you want to merge into (letter, labels)? What do you do, and what goes wrong?

additional information...

Kees, sorry for not being more clear here.. thanks for the info.. here goes:

SeaMonkey/Mozilla is the internet suite I use, as opposed to IE/Microsoft, as such when using MS Word and trying to create an 'e-mail merge' in word, I can create the merge without many challenges, yet when it is time to send the e-mails, they are not sent at all through SM/Moz.

Upon the first try, it appeared as if a merge into my e-mail program was taking place, alas to find out it did not. I had to transfer the information manually which I was not happy about, especially with 75 e-mails, personalized, to get out.

The data is taken from a file created within word. Maybe I have done something incorrectly?

Thank you again.

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22mail+merge%22+word+email+site%3Aoffice.microsoft.com gives links to all kinds of MS Office assistance on this subject.

But they won't tell you how to do it with Netscape or Netscape-clones, I think. However, I suppose you will get it working if you buy MS Outlook or MS Exchange. I can send personalized e-mails from Access 2000 using VBA using MAPI's from Outlook's Collaboritive Data Objects (also known as CDO), and something like that must be used by Word.
It's doubtful if other mail-programs will support this. Microsofts Outlook Express doesn't, for example.

Just a note that mail merge used to mean a PRINTED page.

You are trying to autogenerate emails AKA spam and why you may find spastic support for your efforts. Go ahead and scream you're not spamming, but it's the same end goal as a spammer.

To get your mail merge to run as a combo of Word and Mozilla email programs will have you write new code and have a deep understanding of your new creations.

I don't know of a ready-to-use solution.
