Question

Mail from Hotmail read on phone, yet stays unread on PC.

Nov 21, 2012 3:36AM PST

Hello,

I have a problem with Hotmail.
I have my Hotmail account set up in the email app from Samsung, and it works well.
But when using Hotmail on my PC, it says that I have unread mail, even though I have already read them on my phone.
Does anybody know a solution to this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi lukaspeters,

Sounds like your PC is using a POP3 account, instead of IMAP. So what's the model number for the Samsung product you're having problems with?

About pop and imap.

If you are using POP email, this is supposed to happen. It's not a bug, it's how it works.

This limitation has been around for a very long time. It's a rather deep discussion if you want to get into the email mechanics and you can find lots of discussions how this works.

Maybe it's time for email clients to die an ugly death for folk that don't want to deal with the old thing.
