Question

Magix Slideshow Maker 2 Freeware

Jun 6, 2012 4:08AM PDT

I just read a great review for this product at http://download.cnet.com/Magix-Slideshow-Maker/3000-13455_4-10907281.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody;1d#editorsreview and it is true for the most part. Although I worked long and hard yesterday to perfect a birthday video for my brother.

My problem is getting music files to be the same length of the video. On the first tab of the application, after I have entered the photos and sorted them the way I want, it says to the right, how many seconds you want the photos to show before fading. I set that or leave it at 7 seconds. Then on the second tab there are options "again" on how to set the seconds and I cannot figure out which I should do, make slideshow same length as song or visa versa. I end up with the song being too short to cover the pics.

Can someone help me that knows about this product? Someone wrote that review from cnet so someone surely knows. The most frustrating thing seems to be the two tabs with the same option to set the time. I know I am missing something but I hope it isn't the 49 dollar version of the program I can't afford.

Denise Evans, and thank you in advance for any helpHappy

I have never used this software so nothing definite from me, but looking at the two images and your description it seems you are on the right track.

I see 26 images in the timeline, (for want of a better description), and I see that the music track is 4:22 minutes. I assume that is 4 minutes 22 seconds, (262 seconds), and not 4.22 minutes.

So that means, without any blank areas, each image has 10.1, (actually 10.0769), seconds worth of music.

If fade in/out takes 7 seconds you are left with 3.1 seconds of image time.

It would seem from the 2nd image that the first option there, "Adjust slideshow length to music" means "Display duration per photo (in seconds)".

Does that description change if you select the second option, viz, "Adjust duration of music to slideshow"?

With that first option selected it seems you have an adjustment of =/- 6 seconds. That's quite a big margin of error if I am reading that right.

The next section in that image is "Process videos". What is that? If it is the process of making this video, then should you not choose "Original length" using the slider?
