MagicJack Dials Random Numbers

Dec 10, 2007 3:56AM PST

Hi all,
I hope I'm in the right place. We bought MagicJack and really like it, but we have a problem. When we use the speakerphone function of our cordless phone, MagicJack enters random numbers which the person on the other end of the call (but not we) can hear. Tech support at MagicJack doesn't have a clue what we're talking about. If we use a corded phone or turn off the speakerphone feature, it's fine, but we want to use the speakerphone. MagicFix won't download, so that's no help. We have Windows XP home edition.
Thanks
Neva

I also have magicJack but I had to make adjustments
Oct 8, 2010 10:32PM PDT

There is a section where you can change your number, disable call forwading, use magicfix to update and there was one about approximately a month. Instead of seeing black lines when installed, I see bold green lines like from an updte from windows. I had an tracfone the I replaced with one that takes pictures and have 2 lines running out to two phones. I had removed all the land lines from ATT, since they had purchased BST but did not improve the lines outside. I had ATT bellsouth high speed internet and, two weeks later, never worked because of bad lines. One man said: "don't they know that won't work in this area?" I would up using my modem with 1 dialup number, magicJack would never work so I went Comcast.net and have both TV, Internet service with them - and magicJack

I have cell phones and the suggestion to install a fax machine but I have an alternative but I will have to install a printer only. OpemOffice.org has a setup where you can send and email faxes thru efax. Unfortunately, I have a printer, scanner and copier(HP).
My only solution is to buy a printer and a scanner only. That way , the printer will be used as a fax machine.
Another item with OO.org is that I can use the writer and convert them into PDF formats. Also found on majorgeeks: Free PDF to Word Converter.

magic jack fix random dialing
Sep 11, 2010 5:14AM PDT

COULD SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE ADVISE ME ON WHAT IN BLUE BLAZES CAUSES MY MAGICJACK TO MAKE RANDOM CALLS. I HAVE UNPLUGGED IT AND YET I STILL RECEIVE CALLS FROM ALL OVER THE US AND CANADA ASKING WHY DID I CALL , YELLING AT ME TO STOP CALLING, THREATENING ME (not that I'm worried) and generally pissing people off. THE ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS PRODUCT IS THAT I SIMPLY CANNOT GET ANY HELP FROM THEIR USELESS TECH SUPPORT PEOPLE AND HAVE LITERALLY REACHED THRESHOLD OF PATIENCE. WILL SOMEONE WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS PLEASE RESPOND.

Magic Jack trouble shooting problems
Oct 5, 2010 7:30PM PDT

I use magic jack at home using a dial up connection. That does not call any random numbers when I am speaking using a normal land line phone. The only problem I have is i face a lot of disturbances many times when i speak. I think it is something to do with my internet connection. Some times i do not hear any disturbance and the conversation goes smoothly.
