Magic Mouse not working on boot-up

Mar 5, 2011 7:01AM PST

My Intel iMac (OS 10.6.6) mostly doesn't find my Magic Mouse when I boot up in the morning. All of the comments I've found so far rely on the use of an auxiliary mouse to force a connection. Is there really no other solution? This seems just too primitive to believe!

Turning the mouse off and on again has no effect. When I click the Set Up Bluetooth Mouse button in the Mouse System Preference, it still won't connect until I manually turn the mouse off and on again.
