Your post ommitted key details such as what DVD player software was used.
Since XP doesn't have a DVD player, and may stress most in trying to find all the needed drivers, I'll write it's not a viable solution.

I have duak boot 98se and win 2000. The 98 plays DVDs
very well. The win 2000 seems to see the protected DVDs
as though it was being copied, however there is no recorder attached or video out cables attached to the laptop.
My Lord of the Rings DVD plays fine under 98 but the Macrovision immediately pops up under 2000.
Some other commercial DVDs such as Dave Attell and 2 Elvis documentary DVDs play excellent under 2000.
I like the 2000 better than 98 for working in programs
and would delete 98 if DVD feature were acceptable.
Sure i can switch between the two and get along.
Got a new Dell coming with XP available, maybe i could install the XP on the Armada 7400 and it would perform all tasks ok.
Having said this i guess i am asking if you know a way around the Macrovision error?
