For a couple years now I've been using a web Accelerator called Proxyconn ($4/mo) which works really good. This app also blocks banner and Macromedia Flash and Fly In ads.
For the passed week I've been testing and accelerator offered by my ISP ($3/mo) which puts Proxyconn's accelerator straight to shame (maybe cause it's on the same servers). It has an option for "Ad blocking" which doesn't seem to work well (perhaps not at all). And I still have to put up these ads which irritates the
&%$@ out of me. The ISP says that this accelerator has no way to stop these ads.
Does anyone out there in cyberspace know how I can stop the Banner, Macromedia Flash and Fly In ads? I'd really appreciate any help to keep this ad trash out of my surfing.
I'm using XP Home SP2 with IE6. I've tried enabling/Starting DNS Client and using an updated Hosts file with out much luck.
