The most recent Nvidia driver can sometimes cure this particular problem.
Did you make sure that the BIOS setting for Power management is set correctly?. Some require power management to be OFF in the BIOS while on in the Windows settings, other's require it to be ON. You might try the opposite of what you're currently doing.

I have a computer with an n-vidia video Ge-force ti-500 card installed (the newest driver has been installed as instructed by the error message to follow). The power management settings are set to allow the system to hybernate. After the set time for standby elapses the machine displays the message that the nvidia video card will not allow the system to go into standby. The OS is microsoft XP. The processor is PIV 2.0 mhz.
These settings did work and then stopped and I can't come up with the why.
