It will never ever work! On the initial plug in to your usb port, it initiates to charge the device. But what ends up happening is the computer blows the product simiiar to a circuit breaker overload. The model u have doesn't have a rest button anywhere. Calling their support is useless as they will waste an hour of your time walking you through all kinds of shee-it in an attempt to prove that your computer is no good or the usb port is no good. Then they will tell you to mail them the product AT YOUR COST and then they will mail u a replacement @ your cost (u will pay just as much in postage to send it back and to pay shipping for the replacement as the cost of the device). I went through 4x them sending replacements and none of them worked at all. They will not refund your money at all and returning it to the store will not refund your money either because they will say the thing had been opened and used and will only offer you another one and that one will not work either. This company that made this device has over 3 thousand complaints on file in the BBB (at least in my regional BBB office). Not only is this product junk, but we bought a dvd player from same manufacturer and it didnt work at all. Again, support from them is a joke and they will have you believe your computer is the problem and they even tried to convince us that our tv jacks were no good in reference to DVD player. Your only recourse is to file complaints to BBB and on top of that take them to small claims court. Eclipse company are a-holes and are deliberately putting out products that dont work at all just so they can rip you off. Everyone that buys their products will suffer same problems so I recommend that we all file claims here www.ripoffreport.com
Here is a pic of the player for reference: http://www.staples.com/Mach-Speed-ECLIPSE-DUO-4GB-Mp3-Player-USB-with-Voice-Recorder/product_324374
I recently bought this brand of mp3 player, with the hopes that I could just plug it into my computer, and transfer songs to it easily like any other regular player or flash drive.
However, while my computer recognizes that something is plugged in, and shows new drives in the "My Computer" section (H and F, if I remember correctly), upon trying to open either one, I get a message to "please insert disk into [whichever drive]".
I even tried simply dragging a file to each one, but the same message popped up.
Also, if it helps any, my computer runs on Windows XP.
Any help would be appreciated. Just please, no suggestions on getting an iPod. The reason I went for a simple mp3 player was to avoid having to use a program like iTunes just to get songs transferred.
