Any chance of repair?

But first, is that an Apple keyboard? I find it matters sometimes.

And why not repair the machine? Keyboards are cheap compared to a new laptop.

Dell Keyboard
May 2, 2012 4:44AM PDT

Ah my apologies, it's a basic dell keyboard. Works fine as im using it right now. The laptop is a write off from an insurance company. My company receives these to remarket when it's cheaper for apple to replace than repair.

This one suffered some water damage, the usb port works fine as it asked me to press a couple keys once i plugged it in. it recognized me hitting these keys, now nothing. Even after unplugging and trying again now nothing at all comes up

Dell keyboard UGGG!
May 2, 2012 7:05AM PDT

Try another. Dell keyboards can be "different" from the usual keyboards and since an Apple keyboard is cheaper than a laptop keyboard, well, all this is academic as the unit has water damage and is a write off.

Sorry to tell you this but it's damaged goods and likely to cost more to fix than its worth.

Thanks bob, i'll try another keyboard but it looks like a lost cause. Water damage does funny things to these units, someone will still buy it for parts Happy

many thanks!

Answer
How was it damaged?

How was it damaged? If we're talking liquid damage, it's probably not worth the effort, but if this is just some kind of random failure that happened completely on its own one day, then you are almost certain to get into maybe territory.

You know, mny users have the same complaints. Did you go to a Mac maintenance service center?

Milesqwe.Did you notice this unit is an insurance write off?

I wonder if you noticed this unit was already written off and has water damage.

I think you may want to reconsider if your link applies to this discussion.
