Pro and Air are really different machines with one being your classic work horse and the second being very portable.

Can I ask why you couldn't choose one over the other?

Best for Me?
Jul 1, 2011 4:28AM PDT

Well I am just exploring my options. I feel as though I will not need the power of the pro nor the graphics capability. But in the future these may me something I would appreciate. I have some doubts about the air and was wondering about its overall functionality. Both are excellent computers, however, I am on the fence about which will better meet my needs

Also the air's have no Disc Drive, but i feel they have become somewhat obsolete

There is a move to less drives today.

Given the rare times I use my DVDRW/BD drive in my laptop, isn't it time to leave that at home?

If you feel these have become obsolete, how did it get on your selection radar?

The Mabook Pro is running the latest series of CPUs. Are you saying that any design over 2 months old is dated?

Drives
Jul 1, 2011 4:58AM PDT

I was just comparing the two and am trying to look at all pros and cons of each system before making a purchase. So naturally the drive came to mind as it is a difference between the machines. No, the pro is not dated. Just looking for any insight

Insight.

Very different machines. While it is widely rumored a refresh for the Air may happen there is little need for it from a CPU angle. Maybe they'll snag a few more buyers with Sandy Bridge but what if there is no need for more oomph for what the Air is good at and they went for more battery time or more storage?

The current 13 inch macbook pro is on my wish list.
