MacBook Pro too hot!

Feb 8, 2011 10:55AM PST

My computer started to get super hot (like burn my legs hot) about a month and a half ago the fan also runs extremely loud. My dashboard stats say 5415 rmp. It happens after I am on the computer for about ten minutes. i am not doing anything crazy, just on the internet or typing papers. I took it to the mac store and they looked through all of my programs and said everything was fine. Is anyone else having this problem and has anyone been able to fix it?

Thanks

Nope

Nope, just removing it is enough if you are not a certified technician. But you're free to contact Apple and ask them. They'll tell you that simply removing the board will void your warranty.

I suppose we could leave it up to the people reading here to decide who they want to believe. Some random person who clearly has little to no experience working on computers... Or someone who has been employed as an Apple repair tech for over two years now, and has completed hundreds, if not thousands, of repairs in that time.

People are free to check my posting history here and gauge the extent of what I know for themselves. I have a pretty long history on these forums, so there's plenty of material for people to look through to get a good feel for what I do and do not know. Even if you don't believe I'm an ACMT and that I have worked on hundreds of systems, I would think it is evidenced that I have a pretty detailed knowledge and understanding of quite a few systems. OTOH, you broke the Thou Shalt Not Quote Wikipedia And Expect To Be Taken Seriously commandment.

very, very bad design

If you ca't clean out the fan vents then that's very bad design. On all pcs, regardless of brand or model, the heat vents can be cleaned out internally and externally.

That's your opinion

That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it, but it's not the factual statement you think it is.

I buy square trade warranties anyways. They are cheaper and far less restrictive.

Not one for fine print

Not one for fine print, are you? Square Trade "warranties" are more like insurance policies, and are quite a bit more restrictive when you read the fine print on them.
