Macbook pro to Samsung System

by CH-124 Driver / July 14, 2010 4:48 AM PDT

I current own a PN50A550S1F Plasma, HT-AS720S receiver and the 1500(??) Blueray player.

The digital satellite box and blueray player are connected to the receiver system via their own HDMI cables. The Receiver is then connected to the TV via a HDMI cable.

I recently purchased a macbookpro and wish to download and watch movies on the system.

I realize I require another HDMI adapter for the laptop to connect to the TV. My question is how do I get the sound from the laptop to the receiver and 5.1 system? I called the Samsung 1 800 number and the fellow said I required an optical cable to connect my satellite box to my receiver- but that doesn't make any sense.

Any advice or ideas?

I spent the afternoon searching on youtube, and I found this.

I will attempt to connect the HDMI cable to the TV and lap top via the adapter and connect an optical cable to the receiver from the headphone jack.

When I turn on the tv, I'll pick 'source hdmi 3 (the mac) and on the receiver I'll choose CD optical (??) and see if that works.

Cheers,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
