MacBook Pro to LN46A550: 1080i, not 1080p

Mar 20, 2009 5:03AM PDT

I have a 1-year old Macbook Pro and a new Samsung LN46A550. I can connect to the Mac to the TV with an HDMI cable and it works fine. However, the Mac reports that it is displaying 1920x1080 (interlaced), and indeed I can see some imperfections in the image that I assume come from the interlacing.

How do I drive the TV at 1080p, not 1080i? Can the Mac not do it, or can the TV not handle it?

Thanks!

bjaspan,

Page 44 of the manual notes that it will accept a 1080p signal through HDMI/DVI. I can't speak for the computer itself.

Hope that helps.
