Question

Macbook pro - power cord causes interference with trackpad

Jan 11, 2013 12:52AM PST

My Macbook pro powercord, when plugged in, causes interference with the trackpad and the headphone jack. The trackpad does not navigate smoothly and the headphones have severe static. Obviously there is an electrical interference issue but I am not sure the cause - whether it is the battery, hardware, or the powercord. My battery is very slow to charge, if that helps. Thank you.

How old is all this?

I see this on older models so we install new batteries and maybe more. It's OK for the battery to charge slowly. It's a great way to extend its life span.

It is a MacBook Pro 7,1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. Are you saying a replacement of the battery should solve the problem? And I should say by charging "slowly" I mean when the battery charge is listed as a percentage, and the cord is plugged in, I get about 1 percent charge every 15-20 minutes

I can't tell from the post. Also if the battery was used daily, in about 2 to 3 years it's not in its prime. I can't tell if a new battery would fix the issue since if a 17 inch laptop with a full CPU load doesn't leave much power left to charge the battery. In the systems I've seen, charging goes faster when the computer is off. I bet you can guess why that is.
