MacBook Pro Memory Upgrade

Jan 5, 2007 7:35PM PST

Hi, I have a very stupid question.
I currently have a PC laptop and it is old. I am thinking to buy an Apple laptop possibly MacBook Pro, it comes with 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 memory and it has one empty memory slot.

Can I take out the 1GB DDR 333 memory from my old PC laptop and plug it into my new MacBook Pro to make it 2GB memory? I just don't want to wast the memory in my old PC laptop.

In short, can I put two different speed RAMs on the same system? In this case, this will be my new MacBook Pro.

Thanks.

The RAM SIMMs and DIMMs are

keyed to fit into the RAM socket... so not only is it not a good idea to not mix RAM, the RAM module from the old machine will not fit.
