Question

MacBook Pro Lion X Reinstall

by Mrdondono / March 26, 2014 10:42 PM PDT

Received an Macbook pro 13inch with Lionx. This unit would only boot into safemode with command R
. It would not boot to CD or anything else.
Ran Mac's disk utility and was told it could not be repaired
Used Disk Warrior was told it could not be repaired
Used MacDrive 9 for Pc was told it needed to be reinstalled.
Formatted the HD, Re-partitioned the drive in the correct format.
Attempted to install LionX told it could not be installed once launched into the CD GUI
Created a new CD from a new image was told the same thing.
Leaning on a Bad Harddrive at this point

Did you try it with a blank unformatted drive? Let the OS installer do that work.

"I think http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910 is current enough and notice how they didn't format the drive but erased it?

Can you share which Apple article you are using?

I'd try a drive at this point. Again, what article/link are you using that details partitioning and formatting prior to install? I bump into this once in a while and wonder why folk format ahead of install?

Something else is a mystery is how you are doing all this if the CD (or DVD) does not boot? Have you fixed that issue?
