No need to pull the trigger on the pro today if you can help it.
Why 3GB? 2 is certainly fine with 99.99% of the people I've encountered. There are those that get the 4GB for bragging rights.

Hey everybody,
I could definitely use some assistance regarding getting a MacBook Pro. Please forgive my ignorance, as a lifelong PC user, I'm sadly clueless about Apple hardware.
Anyway, I'm in the art/design field and would like to get a desktop replacement, and was thinking about a MacBook Pro. I'd like to get one sooner than later, but I've been hearing that Apple may soon announce some upgrades to the product line. Does anybody know what these updates might be, and could anybody recommend if it would be worth waiting (and how long) until I finally make a purchase?
I'm interested in creating a dual boot system, and running Adobe Creative Suite programs...would a 3GB system be adequate for such a setup? Also, I've already got a 20" widescreen LCD...would you recommend springing for the 15" MacBook Pro? I've heard that the 17" can be a bit unwieldy.
Thank you so much for your help!
