just curious,

At no extra charge, you can choose a glossy widescreen display that lets you view graphics, photos, and videos with greater color contrast.

it seems that a glossy display is better, so why would someone not want a glossy one then?

the reflection of the background on the screen can become problematic - so a non-glare; no-reflective screen is favorable.

Bsically, the reason they let u choose yr screen type is because it depends what u r using yr com for. For watching movies and evrything, a matt display (the original display that comes with yr Macbk Pro) would be better off without reflections and light issues. But if u would prefer working with a vibrant screen then glossy would be better. The colours look more 'lively' and clearer. Thats y Apple let u choose a glossy at no extra charge. So its up to the user's own preferences. But I chose to stick to the matt display when i bought my MBP.
