MACBOOK/2GHz Intel, need more volume for softwares!

Feb 20, 2007 12:23AM PST

Hello Everybody,

I recently pruchased parallel desktop and windows vista for my laptop...and then realized that they wouldn't fit. I basically need to get more space...My question is, can I just purchase one of those LaCie externals? Can you install softwares on them? Or should I just upgrade my internal ATA HD? I HAVE NEVER opened an MAC before, it just sounds freaking scary to me. Either way, what would be my best choice?

Thank you,
and have a pleasant day!

Replacing internal HD

An external Firewire HD will do you nicely and you will be able to install your software on it.
Although it is easier to get into a Mac laptop than it used to be, it is not a walk in the park for the inexperienced. It would also Void your warranty too.
The internal drive on that machine is a Serial ATA (SATA) drive, not a regular IDE (PATA) drive.

Just as a matter of interest, how much HD space does Parallels and Vista require?
