Question

MacAir no picture on screen

Jul 26, 2011 1:02PM PDT

My mac air has no picture on the screen. It's as if the top of the laptop has separated from the inside which is the screen. If I squeeze the top together I can get most of the picture on the screen.

Does anyone think this is just beyond repair or should I pursue getting someone to try to fix it. If it is repairable, do you think it would be cost prohibitive?

Thanks in advance.

Actually sounds saveable.

Figure at most 1/2 price the cost of a new Air. Now head to the Apple Store get the estimate.

You don't mention

You don't mention which model Air it is, but it sounds like it would probably qualify for Apple's flat rate repair which is about $310. That's roughly how much the display assemblies cost anyway, and you do NOT want to try replacing one of those on your own, trust me. Especially if it's one of the old sort of deflated football shaped ones. Total of 13 of tiny little screws that strip for like no reason are required to be removed to get the thing off.
