That Apple actually delivered on pretty much everything Microsoft claimed it was going to deliver with Vista, but didn't, and Apple did it years ago. However, it's not for everyone.
Before making a major purchase like that, I would try and find a Mac system you can play with a little, to get a feel for OS X and see if you even like it for one. Then be sure to go through all your programs, and figure out what kind of options you have with a Mac. Sometimes there are official Mac versions of programs, other times there aren't, and you have to use other programs which may be better, roughly equivalent, or worse than their Windows counterpart.
If you have any additional hardware you like to use, such as maybe an MP3 player, printer, scanner, etc, make sure to check on Mac support as well.
It's best to find out about these things beforehand, rather than be disappointed after you get your shiny new computer. If you ask me, Macs are great systems, but they aren't for everyone. So best to make sure they work for you before buying.
