mac powerbook g4 runs slow...

Mar 6, 2006 3:14AM PST

My powerbook g4 seems to be running a lot slower than when I got it. I still have 49 gb of memory so I doubt that's the problem. I used acqusition for a while and it froze a couple times. When I had to shut it down holding the power button it seems like it now runs a lot slower. Is there any way to make it speed up without completely reinstalling the OS? Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

It's a 12" powerbook g4 1.33

That's a lot of memory!

You have a unique PowerBook.
I'm guessing that you have 49Gb of Free HD space and probably something short of 1GB of Memory (RAM)
Have you tried running the Repair Permissions in the Disk Utility?
Did the Force Quit option not work for you when the machine locked up?

At this stage I would go with an Archive and Install which will take you around 20 minutes and is totally painless. If you do it right, you will get to keep all your data and settings
