Mac/PC wireless help

May 22, 2005 4:34AM PDT

I'm going to set up a wireless network at home, I have a Dell dimension 2200, w/ xp, built in wireless card. Girlfriend has an iBook (not sure which model, but its an older one) needs a wireless card.

What my questions are:

1. What card do I need for the iBook?

2. What router will work with both?

3. Are there any websites that will help in setting this up?

Thanks
Eric

Check the Specs
May 24, 2005 5:59AM PDT

Go to the Apple site and check the specs on the iBook. The currently shipping iBooks take the Airport Extreme card (802.11G) but the older models take the original Airport Card (802.11b) The two cards are NOT interchangable.
Unfortunately, the older card is no longer sold by Apple but there are many of them out there, especially on eBay. Expect to pay from $75 to $120 for the card.
Routers, as suggested by the other poster.
Set up instructions will come with the Router. The iBook will be real plug and play.

Hope this helps
