Answer
This would be researched with calls to Apple and Microsoft.

Your IT staffer should be making the calls, testing and implementing. Sometimes you find an IT staffer that isn't using the phone and they try to do it all without the old phone. Maybe, some day that will be true but both companies have solutions for what you ask.

Won't apply as the OS and more has changed but it involved going to Microsoft seminars and talking with the OS suppliers. Since you won't call or talk to the makers, you may be investigating and trials for a little longer than normal.

Are you asking about "Mac OS X Roaming Profiles"? Your question about "i need to be able to map to the mac desktop the users windows share." is not something I've seen implemented to date. I'm sure that someday the desktop will follow the user (roaming) but for now we have the user's home folder follow them around.
