Question

Mac OS all website certificates are invalid?

Apr 10, 2015 3:46AM PDT

I don't know Mac. My friend can't go anywhere online. It says the certificates are invalid or something in both Chrome and Safari. She mentioned she did an update. Just called her, she has 10.8.5 and just did 3 security software updates. So what/where setting does she need to fix? Or was something wrong with the Apple updates she did?

Did you delete expired certs?

Deleting digicert didn't help

And it was ok until 2031. She looked at the full cert list, it was long and most of them are expired. Should she delete others? She can't even go to Apple . com. It says VeriSign can't verify the website and the certificate expires April 2016.

Expired ones are useless. I'd remove those.

As to digicert, I found the article not to be the exact cert we were looking for. But a good article with some screen shots to help you find your way to expired certs.

Now it's not letting her delete any expired ones

And all her DigiCert is gone. So we need to get that back. She only deleted the one that was expired. She can't get delete when she right clicks and Delete is dimmed out on the top menu.

What does Time Machine restore? Only personal files? Can we restore the system to April 1? She restored the "Desktop", what does that restore?

I think when she tries to log into any websites like Ebay, QVC, AOL, Etc and even Apple it says it doesn't recognize it or it's not trusted or something and that she's not connected to the intenet. So she says to continue and can get in but the next time it's the same errors.

It's hard enough trying to help her on the phone even if it is something I know and I don't know that much about Mac.

Answer
Update: She called Apple
Apr 10, 2015 2:13PM PDT

Was with them over an hour. The lady didn't quite know what to do and couldn't log into her computer. She had to go get help like 4 times. They managed to delete the whole keychain app and set it up again. She can now get into the websites but has to put in her passwords, hopefully just for the first time. The Apple person had so much trouble herself she didn't charge my friend.

Thanks for helping.

Keychain

you are correct.
Your friend should only have to enter the passwords once, and click yes if asked if she wants them stored in the Keychain.
