Mac Mini will not burn my cd's?

Oct 11, 2006 8:19AM PDT

Hi I have a Mac Mini 1.66 Intel Core Duo. I have been trying to burn my cd's but it will not do it. My Mini has a Superdrive and I am using Toast 7 to burn. When I put in a black cd the Mini starts to make a loud "Buzzing" sound. I then am unable to eject the cd. I have to restart my Mini to eject the disc. Has anyone had this happen to them or heard about it. There is also a warning that pops up that says "Hardware error". Thanks

What does Apple say about this?

If the machine is still under warranty, that is the first place to go. Sounds like the Superdrive is no longer very super.

Call them and, if under warranty, get them to replace it.

My Superdrive works afterall-

I just put a bunch of files in Toast and burned them to a cd and it worked perfectly. I don't know why I can't burn a music cd? I would always just do a disc copy using Toast and burn my cd's when I was using my old Power Mac G4. I don't know why it isn't working with my new Mini Intel. Any idea's? Thanks for all your help everyone

Versions of Toast
Oct 13, 2006 11:20PM PDT

What version of Toast are you using?

Now that you have an Intel Mac you would be advised to upgrade to 7.1 which is a Universal Binary application.

Copying a CD with only one CD drive involves a couple of steps that do not always go correctly. Toast has improved in this area though.

Can you burn correctly out of iTunes? I would try again with the Toast copy, it may just have been "one of those days"

I'm very Sorry-

This whole time I thought that I was using Toast 7 but it was Toast 6. I'm very sorry for wasting everyone's time. I'm going to have to upgrade to Toast 7. Again I apologize.

Not a problem

at least you had the decency to admit your error.

Hope the move to Toast 7 fixes all your problems.

Not a waste of time, just another exercise in troubleshooting.

Thanks
