macsales.com and you will find what you are looking for.
If you don't like that place, then a Google search for "ide laptop hard drive" turns up dozens of places that are selling them.
you do NOT have to specify that is for a Mac, any IDE hard drive will work. You wil just have to format the drive to suit you machine.
I saw a 100GB one (brand new) for $89.00, which is not that bad.

I have an old Aluminum PowerBook G4. The drive, which was the original (probably 8 years old!) started acting up. First I started getting spinning beach balls, then finally I'd get some type of dialog on the thing stating that it couldn't read or write. I got a copy of Scannerz some time ago and tested the drive the drive periodically. I was getting periodic irregularities during tests but nothing that I thought was a big deal. This time the thing failed drive testing with a fair number of bad sectors in the 25-30G range.
I need to get a new drive, but it's an IDE 2.5" drive. Is anyone manufacturing these things anymore? I looked on the web a few places and for a drive in unused condition, some of these guys are charging TWICE as much as they do for a SATA drive, and they're not even big drives, like 80GB. The only prices that seem competitive are for what are called "refurbished" drives. Some are claiming that some of these are "overstock" but there seems to be a world of difference between the word "overstock" and "refurbished." For example, if it was really overstock, why not just list it as that. Refurbished implies to me it was repaired.
This isn't my main system. I use it in the morning to check e-mails, the weather, and other non-intenstive stuff. I really love the size of it.
Am I just looking in the wrong places, or are dealers now charging a premium because they're getting harder to come by.
Thanks.
