Mac for video editing?

May 31, 2008 1:03AM PDT

A family member is going to NYU for film. For her graduation we want to get her a mac laptop. What laptop should we get her? It needs to be able to edit HD videos.

Editing Video

Good choice1

All the Mac laptops are capable of editing HD video but the model you should be looking at would be the MacBook Pro, preferably the one with the 17" screen.

Add extra Memory (RAM), purchased from a third party and not from Apple, and she will be good to go.

The reason for the third part purchase of RAM? It's a lot cheaper that way. Like all computer manufacturers, Apple are very proud of their RAM.
Somewhere like Crucial.com or RamJet.com would be fine.

I'm sure there will be others along shortly with other suggestions, larger hard drives maybe, so you should not be short of pointers

Hope this helps

Mac Book Pro

A high-end Mac Book Pro with plenty of RAM is recommended. But don't buy one until June 9, where Apple is rumored to come out with new products.
