even just a tiny bit, all the required sensors are not telling the printer to come "ready"
Ok my friend called me. She has a MAC osX w/ snow leopard and a Brother MCF-7420 printer. This is the second time it wouldn't print. We didn't remember how we fixed it last time. I don't know Mac at all. 1 1/2 hours on phone with her trying to figure it out. I had her reboot computer, unplug the power cord from the printer, take the usb cable out of the computer, etc. I thought it was something simple on the actual printer, but she kept telling me all about the computer settings, especially all this wireless internet stuff. It all had green lights except the "server" was red. What is the server and why would it be red? She has an Airport(?), a little tiny white box.
Anyway not to digress. The printer could make a copy. The computer said the printer was offline or not available or default is idle or something and she had 2 printer icons on the screen, one was ok and one had a yellow error or something. Finally I kind of remembered she checked the printer page jam door last time. So I had her open and close a door on the printer. So she opened the cartridge ink door and shut it real hard and the computer noticed and asked her to resume. Then it could print to the printer.
So do you think it is a printer problem or a computer problem? Why would opening and closing a door on the printer fix it and make the computer recognize it?
