Question

Mac Book Pro upgrade

Apr 29, 2013 3:46PM PDT

Hiall,

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.8 and I am trying to upgrade it to 10.6.

My optical device is a standard read/write (HL-DT-ST-DVDRW GSA-S10N) but will not read any discs inserted. The disc goes it, spins for a short while and then gets ejected.

Do you think this is a majort problem or it it 'fixable' running disk utility or another programme?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Usually a dirty lens or a failed drive.

Ask if the usual USB DVDRW drive can be used.

then an external USB Optical drive will work for you, as Bob mentioned
