Mac Book 2009 A1342

Oct 23, 2014 4:25AM PDT

I purchased a 2009 Mac Book A1342 model. Can I upgrade to 8GB instead of the 4GB already on it and would like to upgrade the hard drive to something more practical. Recommendations, model #'s specs and battery info that needs replaced. I bought for a young student and would like to upgrade as a gift. Please advise, thank you.

Actually for Mac OS that's plenty of RAM.

It's not like you had the 2GB model so I'd stay put.

OK, if you want, head to Crucial.com or OWC to get RAM.

You could take a look at replacement hard drives for that machine.
Remember that you will need a copy of OSX if you decide to change the drive.
