It is time for me to purchase a new laptop and Apple has been really impressing me lately with their Macbook line. But I am worried about taking the plunge into the Mac world. I have written a larger thread explaining my worries and questions about making the switch. The thread is titled "Age Old PC Question," you can find it in this forum. Unfortunately this thread has gotten very little response, which I contribute to it's size so I am probably going to ask my questions in short unless my Age Old thread gets more responses.
One question I do have however is if I have a macintosh laptop do I have the freedoms I do with a PC, where I can run different operating systems in a multiboot config. For example can I run a version of Linux along side in a dual boot with Mac OS 10, or do Mac users not get that freedom with their hardware. If they do not can someone explain how Apple prevents the installation of other Operating Systems on their hardware without booting an OS.
