MAC address invalid during test

I have a LN52A850s1f series tv and am trying to set up the LAN - i have a cisco 3000 router and a linksys switch. Everthing else i have connected is working (wireless and lan), however my tv keeps showing the mac address as ff:ff:ff:ff:ff and being invalid. i have reset the factory defaults. has anyone had the same issue - what is the fix?
