Mac Address Book doesn't Open using Faxfts Pro 10.6

Aug 3, 2006 8:47AM PDT

When I try to open the Apple address book running on an IMac with 1GB RAM, G4 Processor, OS X 10.4.6, the address book flashes and then goes away. When i try to open it again, it does the same thing. We are trying to use the new Faxstf Pro and its supposed to link to the Mac address book but we can't even get it to open. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

New FaxStf
Aug 3, 2006 9:40AM PDT

I had forgotten all about this program. I remember it from back in the day and was surprised to see that it still existed. Not only existed, but updated to Universal Binary as well!
You mention that this is the new Faxstf and I'm assuming that it is a recent acquisition. That being said, what do the manufactures Help Desk have to say about this problem?

Sorry, but as I don't run this program, that is the limit of my help. Sorry

Smith MIcro tech support says that I need to change permissions on the drive but that doesnt do anything. They tell me its an Apple issue.

Ask for you money back
Aug 4, 2006 9:01AM PDT

Let me see now.
FaxStf is supposed to open the Address Book but doesn't. Somehow this is Apple's fault!

I assume you have the latest version for your machine and OS version, of course you do.
Keep on at the company and either get back your money or get them to come up with a working solution.

Sorry you are having these problems. Is this program necessary? You can fax directly from OS X without this program. It's not as neat but it does work

my address book has not been available since last update
Sep 20, 2006 11:02PM PDT

i have the same symptoms as hammerman-click on address book and it flicks onscreen then disappears. this has been happening since i installed the os x 10.4.7 combo update. i have deledet and reinstalled from the options file on the 10.4 dvd, but it doesn't matter. there were two files-AddressBook.data.beforesave & AddressBook.daa.previous that i pulled onto my desktop before the reinstall because i thought they might have some future use. i have a b&w g3 w/g4 500mhz chip firewire pci card scsi card and ati 9200 video card. i have had no problems with anything since 10.3.9 upgrade early 2005. i also do not use fax software. yours is the first string i've found after several days search that is the same symptom. thanks

Just for fun,

try repairing the permissions and see it that makes a difference.

It is never a good practice to "mix and match" data files, especially across such a large range as 10.4.0 to 10.4.7
Are you saying that you reinstalled the addressbook from the 10.4 installation disk?

For them to be so quick is a little suspicious.

You would expect them to have a solution or at least to suggest something.

Still, money back, good.
