Question

M.2 Connectors for WLAN

Sep 25, 2018 1:31AM PDT

I replaced a defective mobo, which supported an M.2 WLA Ncard (socket 1, key A) with a new mobo that has 2 Ultra M.2 sockets (One supports PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA3, the other one supports PCIe Gen3 x4 only). Any idea if its possible to connect with an adapter of some sort, and if so, where can I get one? I see lots of references to adapters in the forum, but they all seem to be SATA, not WLAN, so I'm not sure if they are relevant to my position
Thanks
Jim

Adaptor for ULTRA M.2, not PCI-E
Sep 26, 2018 1:00AM PDT

Hi R.Proffitt, Thanks for the response. I hate to be picky, but the adapter you suggested goes from the WLAN card to a PCI-E 1x motherboard connector. I *could* go that way, but it ises up a mobo socket. I also have 2 ULTRA M.2 sockets, and its one of them I anted to use....is that possible? and if so, with what adapter?

Only the board maker can answer.

Since the socket didn't call out Key A, I can't rule on this one.
