Lucent win modem - lost

Jun 15, 2005 7:22AM PDT

Hi I am currently running windows xp home. recently I did a restore on my puter and now can not dial up.

The dial up error is code 692 (your connection can not be made due to these reasons)
Your modem is not connected or malfunctioning.)

I checked in device manager and my modem is not there. when I tried to add the modem through add hardware the list does not have lucent.

I then went to control panal - phone and modems clicked on modem tab and in the box it has:
Lucent win modem - not present
Lucent win modem#2 - not present

Any ideas would be muchly appreciated as to how to fix the prob.

Try this...

Shutdown the system and power-OFF. Open case and remove the Lucent winmodem if a card. With card out, reboot system and allow to finish, once done, shutdown again. Now install the Lucent winmodem in another slot or same slow, firmly seat card. Once done, reboot and system should see new h/w or ask for drivers(have them?), follow prompts. If *NOT* a card but some build-in modem, then you need to access the bios and disable the modem(look for it). -OR- enable if found to be disable and then save upon exiting the bios area. Verify the modem is present or not. If not, then re-enter the bios and disable, find a new modem and install. If the problem is persist and you seem no cure with old modem, then new is the only way to go. Make sure to uninstall the old modem if so featured or check the add/remove of XP.
