LTN5271 clicks on and off 4 or 5 times before starting

Feb 26, 2009 9:52AM PST

My LTN5271 started this about a week ago. When turning it on, first thing in the morning, it would clicking on and off 4 or 5 times before finally turning on. After that is was perfect for the rest of the day. It stays on all day and is not turned off til night but turning on the next morning, the same thing happens. It was purchased 14 months ago.

thomasj1946,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your television.

Assuming you don't have an extended warranty, you might try registering your unit online. By doing so, you gain an additional 3 months of warranty from the original purchase date if purchased from an authorized Samsung dealer and not refurbished. That way, after you're done registering, you can call 800-SAMSUNG and have a tech take a look at your television and get the issue fixed.

Keep me posted.

Thanks a Million for your help.
Feb 27, 2009 5:21AM PST

Thanks for your help. I did register and was given a three month warranty extension. Just in time as it was purchased on 12/02/07. I called 800-SAMSUNG and after explaining the problem, one of the things the lady had me do was change the clock from AUTO to MANUAL and set the clock. Don't know if that was the problem but when I turned it off and back on, it started like normal. It had been on about 5 hours so I don't know if the problem is fixed or it only happens when it's cold. She gave me a transaction number and she said if it happened tomorrow morning, call back. Keeping my fingers crossed but it couldn't be that simple, could it? I'll let you know if that works.
This is the most amazing TV that I've ever had. Whitest whites and Blackest blacks with a fantastic HD picture. It impressed my buddy enough that he had to buy one too. My brother had bought a Sony about 6 months earlier and wished he gotten this one instead.

No problem.

Keep me posted here as well.

I've not heard of that suggestion, and while it doesn't necessarily point to a logical conclusion in my mind, I find it to be an interesting fix.

That didn't work
Feb 27, 2009 11:27PM PST

Nope! did the same thing this morning. Strange but I turned it off after being on for about 5 minutes and it worked fine. So it seems that it only does it after it's turned off for a period of time. (cools off?) I'm going to call back today but I guess the only way a repair man could see the problem is if it was left off all night til he came. Then after he turns it on the first time, it should do it but but after that, if he turns it off and back on it might not do it again. Since he might only get one shot at it I don't know what to do. I'm just afraid of doing damage if it keeps doing this and one day it just won't come on.

Service

thomasj1946,

Well, I would definitely call and create a ticket for this issue. It's likely either a board or the power supply, but either way, it's covered under the warranty.

Keep me posted.

Repairman just left - Problem Fixed

I don't know how to thank you. It ended up being a circuit board just like you said. All covered under the warranty. I, my wife and my 90 year old mother in law thank you.
